Wicklow, the Garden of Ireland is renowned for its
magnificent landscape and features dramatic loughs fed
by the crystal clear water of its meandering rivers.
Kilranelagh Lodge offers a wide spectrum of fishing and
some of the best angling and scenery you're ever likely
to experience.
Fishing is available to everyone from beginners to
experienced anglers. Learn the skills with our
experienced instructors and then put into practice and
refine those skills on the water with a good chance of
catching fish. Tuition is available from experienced
instructors for all levels and all of the equipment can
be provided.

Coarse fishing for Pike, Perch and Roach is provided on
Blessington Lakes, which also stocks brown trout. The
Slaney, Barrow, Derrine, Greese and Liffey rivers are
all nearby and offer good game fishing for Salmon, brown
trout and sea trout.
Special Angling safaris or sight trips to special
locations with a touch of real wilderness can also be arranged.

Blessington Lakes
|
Kilranelagh Lodge has the only boat guided fishing
service available on Blessington Lakes. Blessington
Lakes is set in the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains
and is a renowned beauty spot, which attracts thousands
of tourists and anglers each year.
Blessington Lakes was formed in 1940 with the flooding
of the area and the construction of the Poulaphouca Dam
and hydro-electric station. In the next two years 6,000
acres of land was covered by water from the Liffey and
Kings rivers.The newly created lake, now called
Blessington Lakes, has a shore line of 35 miles and
holds 148 million cubic meters of water.

A guile will accompany you on the lake and all
equipment, including life-jackets, can be provided.
Fishing on the lakes is regulated by the E.S.B.
Fisheries. Coarse angling is available with abundant
stocks of roach, perch and specimen pike being caught.
There is also brown trout angling available.

River Slaney
|
The River Slaney rises on the western slopes of
Lugnaquilla mountain, and flows South through
Baltinglass, Tullow and Bunclody, before entering the
estuary at Enniscorthy.
It is a medium sized, fast flowing river and mainly
gravel bedded. The Slaney holds Spring salmon, grilse, a
good stock of small brown trout. It also gets a fair run
of sea trout.
